Skittle Picture!!!

We are making murals out of skittles. We took pictures of ourselves with some kind of expression. My expression was sleepy so I am sleepy eyed with my head on my hands. The picture we are making out of skittles is HUGE. I'm about halfway done and have used about 500 skittles already! I think it will look really cool when the picture is done, but it takes a really long time. I also like that I can eat some of the skittles while working on my project! The skittles get sort of stickym after you work with them for a while. If i were to do this project again, I would make the pixels bigger so I could use less skittles. I would also use jellybeans instead because you can just buy the colors you need instead of buying a lot of packages and not using a lot of the skittles.

Shadow Mural

For this project, we decided to make an underwater ocean scene. I enjoyed this project because I love the ocean and it was fun to re create it. Its also so cool how you can use items you would normally throw away to make awesome art. The materials we used are plastic drinking cups, cardboard, clothespins, styrofoam ball, and lots of string. If I did this project again, I would come up with more of a plan at the beginning. Because we changed our plan a couple of times, we didn't get that much done. The most difficult part of the whole mural was getting the person (who was supposed to be swimming) to stay at the angle we wanted. I'm dissappointed we didn't get to finish our mural, so I would like to do it again sometime.

Value Portrait

The value portrait was cool. It showed us how shading a picture can really make a huge difference. It makes it so much more realistic! I think that my piece was successful because the shadows ended up looking real. If I did this project again, I would shade lightly first then go over it again. The most difficult part of this portrait was shading the black areas. I had to go over it so many times and my hand got really tired!

Masking Tape Wall Mural

Creating a masking tape mural was a really fun project. It was fun making a picture of something other than a pencil or paint. Getting to choose what we wanted to make was fun too because we could do something we enjoyed. The most difficult part of the whole project was finding a dark surface to put the tape on! What didn't work well was coloring the different paints with washable markers. If we did the project again, I would use colored tape or sharpies to color it. Overall I enjoyed this project and would want to do it again!
